The American People Deserve A Competent Government

Philadelphia, PA – President Obama delivered his second State of The Union Address. President Obama’s address was inspirational and designed to lift the hopes and aspirations of the American people.

Early poll results show that his message to the nation was well received and the majority of the American people support reviving the economy; igniting innovation; building up small business; implementing meaningful changes in education; reducing the national debt and continuing to support America’s military servicemen, service women, veterans and their families — all of whom, have bravely served our country.

Now that we are just on the over side of a great speech to the nation, Americans are looking to President Obama and the leadership of the newly elected 112th Congress for “real results” in closing the “still too many gaps in service” to veterans and their families.

“The men and women who serve this country in military service bear the greatest part of our struggle,” says President Obama — and, the American people are in complete agreement with you. Americans expect its government to make good on its moral and constitutional obligation “to provide for the general welfare” of its military forces, its veterans and their families.

We The People … respectfully ask that you, Mr. President, and this White House, … and the American government, … and this 112th Congress fill the gaps in service that exists in livable wage jobs, quality healthcare, basic and affordable housing, higher education and family supportive services for unemployed, underemployed, and homeless veterans.

While we do appreciate the proliferation of recent studies that have been launch to examine the experiences of: Vietnam Era Women Veterans; Women in Combat; Military Sexual Trauma Studies; PTSD in Women Veterans; Homeless Women Veterans and more — veterans desperately seek “real outcomes” that are designed to effect positive change in the lives of America’s veterans now — not 2, 5, or 10 years from now.

“The American people deserve a competent government,” says President Obama. “We can not win the future with a government of the past.”

Mr. President, America’s Veterans not only deserve a competent government with high quality, responsive supportive services, they demand it.
