Women Veterans ROCK! Launches The Women Veterans Civic Leadership Institute
Civic Leadership Fellowship Program Trains
America’s Military Women For Civic Leadership Opportunities

Philadelphia, PA (January 20, 2015) — Women Veterans ROCK! announces today the official launch of The Women Veterans Civic Leadership Institute (WVCLI), a one-year fellowship program dedicated to transforming the can-do spirit of military service into a post-military spirit of civic and community leadership.

Fueled by the desire to “Build a Lasting Legacy in Civic Leadership,” The Women Veterans Civic Leadership Institute admits women veterans, active duty servicewomen, reservist, National Guard, military spouses, and military moms into the civic leadership program. The Institute will graduate 100 Civic Leadership Fellows annually.

women veterans civic leadership institute“Today’s women veterans are the best advocates to serve as catalysts for positive change in the delivery of services to America’s military families,” said Deborah Harmon-Pugh, Campaign Chair of Women Veterans ROCK! & Chair of The Women Veterans Civic Leadership Institute.

“Women Veterans ROCK! believes that military women have what it takes to continue to make significant contributions to community resources, education, and public policy, which is why we want to provide them with the training they need to transition from boot camp to the board room,” said Harmon-Pugh.

To deliver the program, Women Veterans ROCK! partnered with Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA and established an enduring partnership with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., an international sorority that works to educate the public, assist youth, provide scholarships, support organized charities, and promote legislation for social and civic change.

“We have joined forces with The Women Veterans Civic Leadership Institute as an enduring community partner in building a lasting legacy of leadership for women and girls in military families,” said Mary Breaux Wright, International President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. “Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is proud to join forces with the Women Veterans ROCK! Advocacy Campaign to raise awareness of the sacrifices and contributions made by American Women Veterans and military families.”

All military women are encouraged to register online and participate in this historic venture designed exclusively for all women and girls in military families (ages 16 and above). Applications for the Fellowship Class of 2015 are available through March 31, 2015. The inaugural class of The Women Veterans Civic Leadership Institute will be inducted during the annual Women Veterans Summer Retreat at Chestnut Hill College held on June 27-28, 2015.
