Women Veterans ROCK! Sponsors PBS Veterans Day Special on November 11

Women Vets ROCK Joins Forces with Gracie Award-Winning Executive Producer Angel Livas and Producer Rodney Minor to Support America’s Military Women

WASHINGTON, DC (November 4, 2015) – On November 5, the Women Veterans ROCK! Advocacy Campaign will kick off its Veterans Day Celebrations by hosting a special release party for the PBS Veterans Day Special, Veterans N Transition on November 5 at Old Line Fine Wine, Spirits & Bistro in Beltsville, Maryland from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

This year marks the sixth year of Women Veterans ROCK!’s 10-year commission to increase social awareness of the accomplishments and challenges America’s military women face in their post-military lives.

To celebrate the occasion, Women Veterans ROCK! is sponsoring the half-hour documentary, Veterans N Transition, dedicated to telling the stories of how military veterans have transitioned from military service to life as successful women-owned and veteran-owned business entrepreneurs, as well as providers of goods and services to the government, private sector, and nonprofit industries.

The Veterans N Transition documentary is scheduled to air daily on WHUT-TV starting Saturday, November 8 and ending on Friday, November 13, with a special midnight airing on Veterans Day, November 11.

“Women Veterans ROCK! is proud to be the title sponsor of the Veterans In Transition documentary,” said Deborah Harmon-Pugh, National Campaign Chair of Women Veterans ROCK!

Since its launch, the Women Veterans ROCK! Advocacy Campaign has assisted more than 7,500 military women and their families by providing them with access to health resources, community service organizations, and career and professional development programs for military families transitioning from military service back into civilian life.

Gracie Award-Winning Executive Producer and President of DC Media Connection Angel Livas says that working with Business Resource TV on the Veterans N Transition project has taught her a great deal about the veteran community, the things American veterans have done, and the sacrifices they have made.

“Hearing the stories about how people took the skills they learned in the service and applied them to the workplace is amazing,” said Livas. “This program shows how imperative it is for people to be encouraged to master their skills and build their own voice in society.”

On November 11, Angel Livas will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies during the 2015 Women Veterans ROCK! Veterans Day Rally & Town Hall Celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The George Washington University in the Media and Public Policy Building, located at 805 21st Street NW, Washington, DC 20053.

The Veterans Day Rally will put a female face on Veterans Day Celebrations by paying tribute to America’s military women and hosting a town hall celebration focusing on “The Success of Military Women in Public Leadership.” The event is free and open to the public. US Servicewomen, veterans and military family members are encouraged to register in advance by calling (215) 836-4262 for more information or registering online at WomenVetsRock.org.
