Assistant Adjutant General – Army, Pennsylvania National Guard

Brigadier General Carol A. Eggert serves as Assistant Adjutant General – Army, Joint Force Headquarters, Pennsylvania National Guard and also serves in a dual-hat role as Deputy Commanding General – Reserve Affairs, United States Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. As Assistant Adjutant General, she is responsible for overseeing the readiness of the Pennsylvania National Guard and for advising and assisting Pennsylvania’s Adjutant General in the operation of Pennsylvania National Guard forces. These activities include the manning, training and logistical support required to accomplish the federal and state missions of the Pennsylvania National Guard.

General Eggert began her career as an enlisted soldier in the regular Army where she served in the Army Band and the United States Army Recruiting Command. She was commissioned in 1985 as a Distinguished Military Graduate through the Officer Candidate School. General Eggert has served in a wide variety of field assignments. In 1990, she was selected as Commander, 3622nd Maintenance Company. In 1993, she served on staff of the 166th Regiment as the Assistant Operations Officer and later served as the Commandant, Pennsylvania National Guard Officer Candidate School. In 1999, General Eggert returned to the field as the Support Operations Officer, 328th Forward Support Battalion and later commanded the Battalion.

General Eggert has participated in numerous overseas deployments including Germany, Italy, Nicaragua and to Lithuania, Amber Hope 2001. She has served during numerous state emergencies as the military liaison to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. From September 2010 to August 2012, General Eggert was on an Active Duty Operational Support tour in support of The United States Army War College, where she served on the faculty and provided support to the Geographic Combatant Commands. Prior to this assignment, she completed a 15 month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving as the Multi-National Corps Liaison to United States Embassy Baghdad and in the J9, United States Forces Iraq where she was responsible for integrating the women’s programs of the Department of State, Iraqi Ministry, and United States Forces Iraq.
